MECHANISED DRIVE SYSTEMS FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE ROADWAYS
The research project on "Mechanised drivage systems for special purpose roadways" aimed to develop the technical and economic feasibility of mobile and compact drivage systems for making roadway branches, for driving short coal roads and for developing parallel roads which have already been driven. There are no suitable mechanised systems available for these special-purpose roadways. They are usually driven by drilling and blasting, involving a high proportion of mechanical operations in combination with heavy and hazardous manual work. The work done in this project was based on machines planned in preliminary studies and general conditions at a model working point. When the basic plans had been further developed and supplemented, a feasibility study was carried out using a three-dimensional model on a 1 : 5 scale. Prototypes of promising pieces of equipment will be constructed and tried out.
