ANALYSIS OF EXPERIMENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF HANNOVER WITH THE CATHARE CODE ON FLUID DYNAMIC EFFECTS IN THE FUEL ELEMENT TOP NOZZLE AREA DURING REFILLING AND REFLOODING
The CATHARE code is used to analyse results of the experiment of the University of Hannover concerning the flooding limit at the fuel element top nozzle area. Some qualitative and quantitative disagreements are found. An analysis is made of both the actual fluid dynamics observed in the experiments and of the corresponding code behaviour. Shortcomings of the present models are clearly identified. New developments are proposed which should extend the capabilities of the code.
