LASER INDUCED FLUORESCENCE IN THE VACUUM UV AND ITS APPLICATION TO TEXTOR
By frequency tripling of a pulsed tunable dye laser sufficient VUV-power can be generated for the measurement of low densities (less than 1.0E7/cm3) and of velocity distributions of light atoms. Applications of this method relevant to plasma physics are reported : the determination of velocity distributions of H- and D-atoms sputtered from hydride-targets (VH and VD) by a 20 mA, 1 keV argon ion beam and the measurement of D-atom densities and velocity distributions in the plasma edge of the TEXTOR tokamak.
