Abstract

It is proposed to use the radiation of neon-like ions for photoresonant pumping of a plasma consisting of the same neon-like ions. Estimates of the gain and a comparison with the usual electron collisional scheme are given. The advantages of this photoresonant pumping scheme for realisation with Z-pinch plasma installations are discussed.
