Abstract

A detailed comparison is made between the tensile properties of AISI 316 and a high manganese steel, AMCR 0033, over the temperature range 20-800degreesC and at several strain rates. The use of constitutive equations to model strain hardening and strain rate effects is described. Microstructural examination allows correlation of the tensile data with deformation and fracture mechanisms and provides insights into the physical basis of the constitutive relations.
