AUSTENITIC STEEL PIPING TESTING ASSEMBLIES IN PISC-IIIFunded under: JRC-REACTSAFE 5C
This paper presents a program for capability, parametric and reliability studies of inspection personnel, equipment, and procedures for the inspection of wrought and cast stainless steel piping used in nuclear power plants. The capability study is designed to identify procedures that can detect and size defects and discriminate between flawed and unflawed material. The reliability study is a test that will measure in-service inspection performance (detection and false call capability) under realistic in-field conditions on realistic cracks. Two welded assembly sets (one for wrought or wrought plus cast, and one for cast stainless steel) are to be employed. Both the welded assemblies and test protocol are organised to simulate in-field conditions as closely as possible.
