STUDY OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF MAGNETIC LINES AFTER PERTURBATION OF A TOROIDAL FIELD WITH MAGNETIC SURFACESFunded under: FP2-FUSION 10C
The effect of a perturbing magnetic field on a field whose magnetic surfaces are tori nested around a closed central line is studied. This perturbation effect creates magnetic islands around surfaces with rational rotational transforms. These islands are investigated analytically, which makes it possible to evaluate their size. The resulting turbulence of the medium is then studied by calculating the interaction of two neighbouring islands.
