The impact of telematics on agricultural advisory workFunded under: FP1-AGRIRES 3C
This seminar followed the themes and actions identified during the workshop on agricultural technology held in Brussels in June 1987 (The green telematics challenge). The aim was to exchange experiences and pass on practical help and guidance to those working in this area. Topics covered included the government agricultural extension service in England and Wales, the use of expert systems to enhance the provision of technical information and advice on agrochemicals, designs for computer-aided extension, new requirements for advice due to diversification within farm-based enterprises, the use of Videotex to answer farmers' queries, information resource management, the IT training requirements of advisers, systems development and maintenance and finally the decentralisation of advisory services due to the use of PCs.
