This report describes the scientific and technological policy of France. It presents among others the following: (i) national laws and plans that govern research and technological development; (ii) short and medium term objectives and priorities set out by the government; (iii) institutional infrastructures and decision mechanisms in the field of science and technology; (iv) technology transfer and innovation policy; (v) measures taken to improve the overall efficiency of the science and technology system, and to strengthen the links between research and the production sectors.
