Open system architecture for CIMFunded under: FP2-ESPRIT 2
The objective of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) is the appropriate integration of information exchange within a company with the help of computer aided tools. An Open System Architecture (OSA) should provide: - a general definition of the scope and nature of CIM, - guidelines for implementation, - a description of constituent systems and subsystems, - a modular framework complying with international standards. This project report provides an overview of CIM-OSA, the architectural model and modelling levels, the view level constructs and their relations and the integrating infrastructure. It also describes the business process design and execution, and the results of standardisation efforts.
