Abstract

Social and economic criteria for land evaluation are considered. Land use patterns are related to the physical, social and economic factors of the environment. The changes in land use resulting from EEC decisions and agricultural programmes are discussed and the resulting social changes are analysed. Various optimisation models are proposed, and applications of economic and econometric analysis are described together with mapping representation studies and ecological and other approaches to the problem.
