Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The JRC research programme Industrial Hazards considers the risks associated with the operation of hazardous industries or large technological systems. It is involved in three research activities: industrial safety and reliability assessment management of industrial risk and experimental and theoretical studies on runaway reactions. The first two activities aim at developing methods for the assessment of major risks in industrial plants and regional industrial systems. The third activity aims at understanding how an accident can develop when initiated, and how its consequences can be limited by suitable provisions. The results of these activities are summarised in this report.
