Abstract

An expanded beam laser imaging diagnostic based on the phase contrast method is used on TCA to measure the radial profiles of density oscillations of driven kinetic Alfvén waves created by resonant mode conversion at the shear Alfvén wave resonance layers. Beyond the experimental confirmation of theoretical predictions, the detection of the Alfvén wave resonance is exploited to yield the safety factor profile of the discharge.
