An experiment to calculate the theoretical temperature at the drill-cortical bone interface
To date, analyses of temperature in the drill area of cortical bone have been limited to measurements with thermocouple systems at a certain distance from the drill hole. This temperature measurement is often equated with the drill - cortical bone interface temperature. In order to show that there is a temperature difference, a drill hole was simulated using the Finite Element Method. The interface temperature was calculated from the energy distribution for "dry" and "watercooled" drilling.
