Accuracy of in-duct fan sound power level determination over a range of standard test installations
In-duct noise measurements on two fans were undertaken at six European laboratories to determine the accuracy with which sound power levels could be derived. Analysis of the data showed that the effect of variations in test rig geometry, within the limits prescribed in the Draft ISO Standard DIS 5136, resulted in a scatter which was small compared to other sources of uncertainty. A number of factors were noted which significantly influenced repeatability. The findings from the tests will be used in the preparation of the ISO Standard for fan in-duct noise measurement.
