Commission action on health and safety at work with reference to work related illness (stress)
Commission actions regarding Health and Hygiene at work include - proposals of the directive "Carcinogenic agents" and "Biological agents" presently under discussion in the Council; - the adopted directives; "vinyl chloride", "framework" (80/1107/EEC), "asbestos", "lead", "noise", "prohibition" and "limits"; - the advisory proposition being drawn up concerning the European list of work-related illnesses. Commission actions regarding Safety and Ergonomics in the workplace include - the definition of safety requirements at the design and manufacturing stage of new equipment with the elimination of technical barriers in the single market; - reinforcement of safety in the workplace and application of ergonomic principles through the 5 individual directives and the new framework directive adopted in June 1989; - future legislation envisaged by the Commission in high-risk sectors (building, agriculture and jobs at sea). - the promotion of a policy of training and information for employees on everything to do with safety, health and hygiene at work.
