Abstract

The introduction of new technologies, as is the case for solar thermal systems, requires multiple efforts on different levels, before reaching the level of technically good and economically acceptable systems. Once good components can be guaranteed, efforts should be focussed on the realisation of real scale projects in the form of demonstration projects. These are used to overcome practical problems and improve design tools. One important element is to monitor system behaviour and performance. This requires a systematic approach, if many different projects are to be analysed and compared, to provide a wider assessment of the technology. The paper reports on the development of such monitoring and evaluation procedures.
