COST 219 : Is anyone answering? : A review of telephone amplification for hearing-impaired peopleFunded under: IC-COST
Project 219 of the European organisation for co-operation in the field of scientific and technical research (COST) is entitled `Future telecommunication and teleinformatics facilities for disabled people'. A working group was formed in 1987 to investigate problems related to amplification for hearing-impaired people when using the telephone. The aims of the group were to collate information on amplification and coupling systems and on standards and trends for telephony and hearing aids and also to study existing and possible systems for coupling and amplification, taking into account the trends in hearing aids and in telecommunication and teleinformatic terminals. This report is the outcome of this work. It provides an overview of the problems that have to be recognised and possible approaches to resolving them.
