Improved methods of chemical analysis of cold rolling oils and emulsions
To give more accurate information about the composition of cold rolling oils and coolants, research was carried out by C.R.M. using the following tools : - gas chromatography equipped with flame ionisation detector, - gas chromatography - mass spectrometry, - preparative chromatography, - H.P.L.C., - infra-red spectrometry, - wet chemical methods. After different attempts, a new method based on gas chromatography was set up. The following determinations can be performed: - mineral oil, - natural or synthetic esters, - diglycerides and partial esters, - free fatty acids, - polar compounds and emulgators, This method has already been used for various industrial applications which are described in this report.
