Comparative study of low temperature carbonisation processes for industrial development taking into account the usefulness of their products
The research project which is the subject of this final report originated as a result of the findings of an earlier project (722-EB/112). Within this project, which was principally concerned with the crushing of preheated coal as a variation of oven coking, complementary additional tests were carried out to establish to what extent the low-volatility components might be replaced with low temperature coke from home-produced flaming coal. These low-volatility components are needed by local Saar/Lorraine coal mixtures to ensure sufficient leanness, and generally have to be obtained elsewhere. In tests such as these the aim was always to produce a satisfactory blast furnace coke.
