Intelligent interface for data base interrogation by making use of fuzzy sets and possibility theory : State of the project as of March 1990
A procedure is established for the aggregation of possibility distributions, coherent with a comprehensive strategy for handling heterogeneous data sources. Probability density distributions can be converted into possibility distributions and vice versa. The realised intelligent interface is valid only for demonstration purposes, to illustrate the viability of using the possibilistic approach to interrogate an incomplete and discontinuous source of information and also to address fuzzy requests to it. There is a need to revise the rule base and aggregation mechanisms. A possibilistic procedure for the treatment of the CEDB component failure data has been implemented. Numerical applications are being performed for its validation. A pilot version of a software to implement the procedure has been completed and is under test.
