Abstract

Detection and analysis of nuclear reactions require the combination of coincident detector signals due to multiparametric events, i.e. sequences of digitised signals preceded by their coincidence pattern. A modular on-line analysis system is described whereby a linear array of transputers combines a variable number of detector signals. The events are then passed to a second transputer array where they are analysed and sorted according to user-programmed codes. The computing power of the system may be increased in proportion to the workload, simply by adding some more transputers to the one or the other array.
