Equipment for the utilization of solid/liquid combustible mixture in the heavy clay industry
The research aims to study, design and construct a pilot plant capable of feeding a water/coal mixture as a primary fuel to kilns for structural clay products, in order to cut down energy costs. The research programme is based on the study of an equipment very like those normally used on the roof of tunnel kilns firing liquid fuels. The particular construction of this new equipment is compared to existing ones, in relation to the characteristics of the processed fluid, which is extremely abrasive and easily sediments. Special mechanical components are therefore used (pump, solenoid valves, etc.) and special solutions adopted for the distribution of the fluid to each user point and for feeding it to the kiln. The equipment has undergone both no-load testing at the workshop and full-load testing on a tunnel kiln in operation.
