Abstract

Calculations with the code SOLXY are modified to describe the SOL of a toroidal belt limiter such as ALT-II of TEXTOR. Preliminary considerations suggest that the experimentally observed asymmetries of the plasma profiles and fluxes on the ion and electron sides of ALT-II at the 45 position are due to the reaction of the limiter to the electric and pressure gradient drifts and electric currents, producing strong opposing effects on either side. The influence of perpendicular flow terms are now included in the basic equations and numerical stability problems have been removed. The profiles for TEXTOR calculated by the code are flatter near the outboard midplane and steeper near the bottom.
