Venting of vessels containing reacting fluids : A parametric study with SAFIRE and DEERS
The importance of in-vessel flow regimes, during the depressurisation of vessels containing viscous and non-viscous fluids, is examined by the codes SAFIRE and DEERS. Similarly, the influence of chemical reactions on the transient is investigated for simple reacting mixtures. The differences between venting into the atmosphere and venting into a catch tank are also examined. Whenever possible, experimental comparisons are made, with the main emphasis directed towards the hydrodynamic aspects of the phenomena involved.
