Abstract

Industry is legally required to monitor the exposure of individuals to potentially harmful substances at the workplace. The method of analysing workplace air is described. Sources of error are discussed, the largest error arising in the sampling process. Most sources of error can be eliminated by laboratory participation in successive intercomparison exercises and subsequent meetings, where the measurement methods are discussed in great detail. The achieved accuracy is made available in the form of a certified reference material.
