Four papers are presented concerning the HBTX1C Reversed Field Pinch. The first discusses ion heating and confinement, focusing separately on the various aspects of the ion dynamics. The second paper reports on attempts to determine the relative importance of different ion power loss channels. Charge exchange losses are shown to be insignificant in determining central ion temperatures. In the third paper, it is shown that laser ablation of low-z impurities can usefully be applied to the study of transport and particle confinement. The fourth paper gives measurements of the impurity ion temperature and toroidal rotation velocities, at different times during the plasma discharge, and the effect of laser ablation of carbon on these temperatures.
