Abstract

X-ray multichord cameras with a choice of 24 slit filters are used in W7-AS to reproduce the radiation and the flux surface geometry. The steady-state line intensity profiles, which are obtained by smoothing the signal over a time interval, either confirm the calculated equilibrium configuration or, in the opposite case, are used to reconstruct the radiation configuration in which static islands have been observed. The fluctuating line intensity profiles, which are obtained by removing the steady-state part of the signal, are compared with simulated profiles, and the m=2 mode is identified as the resonant iota value of 0.5. A correlation between the mode characteristics and the toroidal current is also established.
