Implementation of dose-equivalent operational quantities into radiation protection practice
In 1985, the ICRU (International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements) proposed a system of dose equivalent operational quantities for external exposure to be used in area and individual monitoring of any ionising radiation. The basic considerations, the concepts of the quantities and questions of theoretical calculations and practical applications have been discussed during an International Seminar at Braunschweig in June 1988, with emphasis on the applicability of the new quantities and the consequences with respect to instrumental requirements and calibration procedures.
