The certification of nimonic 75 alloy as a creep reference material CRM 425Funded under: FP2-BCR 4
Details are given of the results of a laboratory intercomparision exercise using nimonic 75, undertaken to certify the alloy for use as a creep reference material. The creep reference material is intended to be used for the overall validation of creep testing machines and procedures. In particular it can be used to indicate whether the machine is in the proper condition with respect to alignment etc, whether the calibration remains valid and if the procedure for performing the tests is adequate. The certified parameters for tests conducted at a temperature of 600 C and a stress of 160 MPa are i) the time to reach a creep strain of 2%; ii) the time to reach a creep strain of 4%; iii) the creep rate after 400 hours, i.e. the slope of the creep strain versus time curve at 400 hours.
