Consideration on the use of grey pattern correlation for object identification or scene change detection in video imagesFunded under: JRC-SAFEFM 4C
This report describes some practical aspects of the use of the cross-correlation of grey pattern for the identification of objects in video images and for the detection of changes in the image sequence of a video signal. The correlation factor, its calculation and its interpretation are considered first. Thereafter, some types of elementary image disturbances are introduced which are analysed to determine their influence on the correlation factor and to facilitate the estimation of such influence from expected image changes in real applications.
