Modelling of complex decision processes by Petri nets The case of siting nuclear power plantsFunded under: JRC-INDHAZ 2C
In recent years a particular class of formal models, Petri nets, have been developed in the area of computer technology. This paper explores the possibility of using a Petri net to evaluate a complex social decision process such as the siting of nuclear plants in Italy. The characteristics of the decision process to be modelled are outlined. The type of Petri nets chosen for the application are described and the results of the application are presented and discussed.
