Irradiation effects on mechanical properties of 316 welded joints
In the framework of the material research programme for the first wall of fusion reactors, the mechanical behaviour of the individual zones of irradiated AISI 316 welded joints (parent metal, heat affected zone and weld-deposited metal) was investigated. Tensile tests took place in the temperature range 20 - 550 C after irradiation at various fluence levels (range 0.9 - 2.7 dpa) and temperatures (180 - 550 C). Design orientated information can be obtained from the true stress-true strain curves, fitted by means of the most used constitutive equations of the plastic flow.
