An experimental study of Alfven wave heating using electrostatically shielded antennas in TCA
Alfven wave heating (AWH) has not performed well, results being confused by an unexplained density rise up to 300% of the target density. Electrostatic screens have been installed on two pairs of antennae in the TCA tokamak. The main benefit of screens in AWH was to clean up most parasitic phenomena from the plasma SOL. This did not however alter the plasma bulk response to AWH nor, in particular, was the density increase reduced.
