CEC research programme on accident consequence assessment: historical development
Activities in the MARIA research project were initially directed towards providing a state of the art review of methods used in member states for assessing the consequences of an accident in a probabilistic framework. During the second phase of the project, the code system COSYMA was developed; this is a modular probabilistic code for the above assessment. Coordinated actions related to this project dealt with possible counter- measures as well. The third phase of the project consists of further updating of the code and training for future users.
