The three lecture notes outline the work which has been performed at the JRC-Ispra with respect to the assessment, improvement and extension of the RELAP5 Code. Part I gives an overview of the RELAP5 thermal-hydraulic models and the numerical solution strategy. Part II summarises experience with different versions of the code and describes the model improvements which have been implemented into the JRC-Ispra code version RELAP5/MOD1-EUR. Part III describes the model changes introduced into RELAP5 to allow the handling of working fluids other than water. First applications of the code for the chemical and process industry are presented.
