Standards for materials databases: an international concern
The need for international standards to facilitate the development of an international market in information is well established. This report analyses the implications of the international requirements in this subject, shows what progress has been made and identifies what still has to be achieved. For materials databases in particular, the nature of the information on engineering materials requires the establishment of particular quality assurance procedures and validity criteria.
