Calibration in solid sampling Zeeman AAS for cadmium is studied. A series of certified reference materials is analysed using a CRM with a different composition as standard. For routine applications this yields satisfactory results. A method of calibration is applied, involving addition of standard solution to lyophilised samples, followed by lyophilisation and homogenisation. By an iteration procedure absolute and independent results are thus obtained. The method was applied to the analysis of BCR CRM-422 Codfish. Finally these spiked codfish standards were used to analyse other certified reference materials.
