This paper illustrates the capabilities of the European-Accident-Code-2 (EAC-2) both in steady state pre-irradiation conditions and in transient low-probability whole-core accident calculations. A short overview is given of the validation efforts of some fuel behaviour predictions, with special emphasis on the pin failure mechanisms. Results are shown for the steady state irradiation of CABRI-1 fuel pins and for the recalculations of a multichannel benchmark LOF exercise where the failure modelling has been fully tested.
