Implementation of scaling laws on 1-1/2-D transport codes and applications to the ignition spherical torus
Predictions of future ignition experiments often use scaling laws based on the experimental data of the energy confinement time. Various expressions for these laws have been proposed and applied directly in systems tradeoff studies that use zerodimensional approximations to the plasma transport. In the 1-1/2-d transport modelling which uses 2d MHD equilibrium codes coupled to 1-d transport codes, radially resolved transport codes are needed. This paper reports on the implementation of selected scaling laws in an 1-1/2-d transport code, and the results of its application at the spherical torus regime of very small aspect ratios.
