The European Accident Code - 2: overview and statusFunded under: JRC-REACTSAFE 5C
The development of the European Accident Code-2 (EAC-2) should lead to a best-estimate code for the analysis of the initiation phase of unprotected whole-core accidents in LMFBRs. The major new models are the pin behaviour code TRANSURANUS, a fast version of the fission-gas behaviour code LAKU, the newly developed CAMDYN pre- and post-failure inpin motion model, the detailed MDYN fuel motion model for the coolant channels, and a 3-D nodal time dependent diffusion and transport neutronic model. Not all models are yet fully coupled, but whole-core validation calculations are already giving encouraging results.
