Abstract

The incorporation of ice storage to a chilled water system will even out the energy profile by removing the random switching in and out of refrigeration compressors while maintaining chilled water temperatures at just over 0 C without the use of anti-freeze solutions. With these low chilled water temperatures and by extending the heat transfer surface, the system enables products (in this case milk) to be cooled to under 2 C.
