Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report gives an overview of the systematic, collaborative, learning programme undertaken by a group of experienced analytical laboratories within the European Community. This programme was designed to improve the state-of-the-art of analysis of individual CBs (chlorobiphenyls) in different matrices. The choice of the individual CB congeners, the critical parameters necessary to optimise the chromatographic separation and quantification of the congeners are given. An assessment is made of the methods of extraction, separation and clean-up of samples prior to gas chromatographic analysis.
