Mechanical fuel element loading and pin failure thresholds in EAC-2Funded under: JRC-REACTSAFE 5C
This paper illustrates the capabilities of the European-Accident-Code-2 (EAC-2) both in steady state preirradiation conditions and in transient low-probability whole-core accident calculations. A short overview is given of the validation efforts of some fuel behaviour predictions, with a special emphasis on the pin failure mechanisms. Results are shown for the steady state irradiation of CABRI-1 fuel pins and for the recalculation of a multichannel benchmark LOF exercise where the failure modelling has been fully tested.
