Energy savings in legume canning plantsFunded under: ENG-ENDEMO C
The present work constitutes the final report of SVIM Service SpA on the theme 'Energy savings in legume canning plants'. In the first part of the work, after reporting the most important characteristic data relating to the studied sector, the products and the raw materials used are analysed. Then the work cycle is reported, underlining the various stages and the main types of equipment, processes and components, stressing the importance of energy in preserving processes. In the second part, the assessments relating to the possible energy savings and recovering operations are given. These assessments are drawn both from a strictly plant-engineering point of view (use of cogeneration systems, equipment adjustment, the power factor correction of the electric equipment, insulation, adjustment of electric energy, distribution equipment inside the factory) and from a managerial point of view (the supply of raw materials, production line management, adequate maintenance).
