A series of experiments has been performed to investigate the interference properties of transition radiation in the X-ray spectral region. The X-rays are produced at the Accélerateur Linéaire de Saclay (ALS) with electrons of 450, 500 and 565 MeV traversing thin foils. Three specially designed radiators show very clear interference effects in the angular distribution of the emitted photons. The peak positions and the relative peak intensities of the angular distributions are consistent with calculations.
