The JRC activities in support of the implementation of the EEC Directive on Major Accident Hazards
The paper describes the main activities in support of the implementation of the so-called Seveso Directive, which are run by JRC/ISEI. In particular the objectives of the Documentation Centre on Industrial Risk and the Major Accident Reporting System are discussed, as well as experience on safety reports, emergency planning and risk communication. Furthermore, the links of these activities with research projects such as the Benchmark Exercise on Major Hazards Analysis are illustrated to show how this work is contributing to the establishment of a common learning process for an improved prevention/mitigation policy in the EEC.
