This intercomparison investigates the uncertainties which may be obtained by the use of solid-state voltage standards and tests the stability of such sources as transportable reference standards. Three voltage sources (Fluke 732, Cropico VS 10 and Cropico ESC 1) were circulated for measurements at seven European primary metrological laboratories. The uncertainties in the measurements were found to be of the order of 1 part in 1.0 E-6. A long term stability study was also performed over 5 years, including the period of the intercomparison. The output voltage in the three cases was found to change almost linearly with time by 6 parts in 1.0 E-6 overall. The intercomparison clearly indicates the suitability of the sources examined as travelling voltage standards.
