Abstract

Two prototype expert systems have been developed for the application of heat exchangers and compression cycle heat pumps in energy conservation. From information such as pressure and temperature levels, flows, capacity, type of fluids and applications constraints, the systems can identify the most suitable type of heat exchanger. The expert system for compression cycle heat pumps is based on heat demand and energy consumption of buildings and a conceptual design of an energy system.
