Determination of traces of silver in copper by direct Zeeman graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry
A method was developed to determine traces of silver in copper by direct Zeeman atomic absorption spectrometry (ZAAS) on solid samples. The system is calibrated using quantitatively doped copper, whose blank silver content is determined using an iterative process. The method was applied in the certification of BCR candidate reference materials 74 and 75, with silver contents at the 12 micro-g/g level. Precisions of the order of 2-5% (1s) were obtained. The method was also applied to assess the homogeneity of neutron dosimetry candidate reference material EC-NRM 522.
